【摘要】:Thistestmethodwasdevelopedtomeasureplutoniuminenvironmentalwatersorwatersreleasedtotheenvironment,andtodeterminewhetherornottheplutoniumconcentrationexceedsthemaximumamountallowablebyregulatorystatutes.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofalpha-particle-emittingisotopesofplutoniumconcentrationsover0.01Bq/L(0.3pCi/L)inwaterbymeansofchemicalseparationsandalphapulse-heightanalysis(alpha-particlespectrometry).Theisotopes,239Pu,240Pu,and238Pu,arechemicallyseparatedfroma1-Lwatersamplebycoprecipitationwithferrichydroxide,anionexchangeandelectrodeposition.Thetestmethodappliestosolubleplutoniumandtosuspendedparticulatemattercontainingplutonium.Inthelattersituation,anaciddissolutionstepisrequiredtoassurethatalloftheplutoniumdissolves.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecifichazardsaregiveninSection9.
